I just read the Teletimes for the first time and was impressed. I especially like the art work and the layout which was easy to read and well thought-out.
I have but one quibble with one article. The Manitoba article [see the June '93 issue on Tourism – Ian] contained a passage stating that between June and August the temperature in Winnipeg is 15 degrees Celsius. This may be the average night and day temperature but I hope that this does not cause a tourist to think that they need warm clothing in a Manitoba summer. I spent the first 24 years of my life in Brandon,
Manitoba and can attest to the fact that most summers are very hot and dry with
day time highs reaching 30-35.
Anyways, keep up the good work and I hope to read a lot more of Teletimes.

I have to plead guilty, and I apologise for the error and any misperceptions
it may have caused. The line should have included the words "approximate
average".
The figures I have for average maximum, minimum, and daily temperatures for
June, July and August in Manitoba are (to the nearest degree celsius):
June July August
Average max. 23 26 25
Average min. 10 13 12
Average daily 17 20 18
From these figures the overall average is in fact just over 18C. Over this
period the extreme maxima are as Dr. Barrington points out, in the high 30s.
The extreme minima are around zero.
I didn't say that summer days are always dry and 30 - 35C because so far I
haven't yet experienced a summer where that was necessarily true, although I
am frequently told it is "normal". I did however make a point of referring
(and after last month or so I am starting to regret it) to the "very reliable
summer sun".
